FAQ
These are frequently asked questions that Nac Foster Rescue receives.
Where do your dogs come from?
Our dogs are pulled from Nacogdoches County but on occasion we may pull from other areas within Texas. Most of our dogs are from the local animal shelter in Nacogodoches, Texas. We take owner surrendered dogs as well, meaning, an owner is no longer able to care for them. We also pull from other animal shelters like Jacksonville and Carthage on occasion. We have taken dogs/puppies from other areas in Texas like Houston, Corpus Christi, and Tyler through networking with various rescues.
Why is the adoption fee $110?
We are a nonprofit organization. Our adoption fee is $110 to help cover the cost of having a dog spayed/neutered, heart worm tested, heart worm treatment, shots, tracking chip, dental, and any other treatment necessary. The $110 does not cover all the services our dogs receive, but it does help cover medical costs so we can continue to operate.
How does a Home Visit Work? What are overnights?
Home Visit/Meet and Greet: Two Nac Foster Rescue Foster Parents will come to visit with you, the potential adopter, in your home. They bring the dog with them in order for the dog to meet your family, other animals, and see how the dog interacts in your home. The NFR Foster Parents are not here to judge your home, but are there to help initiate a meeting with the dog in the new environment.
Overnights: An overnight comes after the initial home visit with the dog you are wanting to adopt. Nac Foster Rescue leaves the dog with your family for a trial night or nights, usually a weekend, to see how the first few days go. This way you, the potential adopter, can see how the dog fits into your family. You may ask for an extended overnight stay if you still need more time to decide. After the overnight the adoption can be finalized.
